When a company is recruiting a new employee it’s their duty to write a letter requesting reference from previous employer.
The reference check will help the current company to know if the candidate has previous experience and is eligible for the designation.
Follow the sample letter format of reference and make changes of your own.
Letter Requesting Reference From Previous Employer:
Dear Mr. Arnold
Mr. Smith who has been working with you as Assistant Manager of stores, has applied for the post of General Manager stores and has given name as referee.
We would like to know whether his services with you in the present capacity have been satisfactory, and whether he is fully qualified and experienced to shoulder the heavy responsibility as General Manager in a large company like ours.
We shall appreciate any information you can give us about his conduct, sincerity, reliability and particularly his ability to cope with pressure of work and skills to work in harmony with others.
We will of course, treat all this information you give us strictly confidential.
You’re sincerely
James
