Once you are ready with the dissertation and want to email it to your thesis supervisor, you may often wonder what to write in the covering email. The rule of thumb is to keep it as simple as possible. Don’t forget to attach the dissertation, CV and all other required documents as required by your university.

The detailed submission procedure, along with the deadlines, is usually available on the university website. Most of the universities require the thesis to be submitted in PDF format only. If you are submitting it in Word Document or some other format, be sure to confirm it with your university first. Your thesis should also include the required declarations, and must be properly signed at all appropriate places.

The thesis itself should be well-presented. It should be written in a clear and concise manner with minimal typing errors. The way your thesis is prepared can make all the difference between getting the degree awarded and missing it. Once you have the thesis with you, begin writing the email. If you’ve got an invite for the defense, mention the date of defense as well.
